According to the Bangkok Post, officials hope to save the island from becoming a victim of its own popularity: “Beaches that could accommodate 70 people arrived to have over 1,000 visitors,” said Thon Thamrongnawasawat, dean of the University of Kasetsart, Bangkok.


“This has caused significant damage to the island,” he added. “If you don’t close it now, we will lose the Koh Tachai forever”.
