Andrew and Lisa-Jane Powis bought from eBay a double-decker bus, compared with only about 3500 euro and they spent even 20,000 euros to fix it…
Essentially, to transform, as well as by bus, transformed it into the home of their dreams.
Fully equipped with a kitchen, wood-burning stove and three beds, the bus is no longer their ideal vacation home after they got tired of “eating door” in various hostels and farms because they have very big dogs.
The couple from Britain has spent six weeks on the renovation of the bus and uses it now for the holidays with his three children, 13,7 and 4 years and their two great Danes.
The bus, nicknamed “Betsy Blue”, is available for rent to the public for around 150 euros per night.
The Powis ripped out all the seats and put furniture and household items on the bus, while on the lower floor there is a bathroom. Next to the bus has been placed and a hot tub.
“We thought, why not make our own trailer”, he recounts the 43-year-old Andrew. “While we have not had experience with such things, we thought we’d try it and it went well. The kids love it, they hoped to have it just for us and are annoyed that the rent and other”.
“The response was incredible, because there’s plenty of room on the bus, while there are things in the equipment that pack a punch,” continues Lisa-Jane.
